Before a contract is signed, finalized with a new potential supplier or an order is placed, it is necessary to assess the manufacturer/s in terms of:
Technical capability: is the manufacturer actually in a position to produce according to required standards or customer expectation?:
Production capacity: can the manufacturer produce the ordered goods in the agreed quantity?
Quality Control and Assurance System (QC/QA): does the manufacturer have a quality control system in place?
Why should “Factory Assessment” be important to you?
- It assures that your supply chain will be smooth, meaning your process will not be disrupted due to the delivery of low-grade materials, components or parts.
- It can help you to understand the production capacity of the potential manufacture before you place your order thus avoiding delays and shortages due to not being able to deliver the required quantity which could disrupt your process and cause late deliveries on your side.
- It helps you to find out whether the potential manufacturer is aware of quality control system and whether it has already implemented it in its process. This may have direct impact on the level of expected quality.
